Non approval of claim

Am a customer of the New India Insurance Company (Unfortunately to my dismay!!). I had insured my laptop 2 months back. Now, a laptop has obviously got mobility, so there are definitely more chances of accidents. And unfortunately the LCD of my laptop was damaged on 4th Aug. Now, the repairing bill given by the laptop company is Rs.28000, which the Insurance Company is not ready to approve and they are offering me a total get-back of Rs.15000, for getting the laptop fixed outside the company for the same amount (Rs.15000). Then why on earth did I insure my laptop for Rs. 34000!!

Now, when I took the insurance for the laptop, none of the employees of the Insurance Company mentioned any clause, or any terms and conditions regarding any kind of damage that may be caused to the laptop in the future. (Even the employees might not be familiar with those clauses, I bet!! I guess they were busy calculating the amount of premium that the Company was going to extract from my bank account!!) But if the product damages are not getting covered up when required, then why on earth should I keep paying premium for its insurance!! How can I risk the fact that my laptop could further be damaged if I get it fixed from someone outside the company?? (I won’t be getting any guarantee from them for sure!!) And all this time I thought that the Company’s aim was to serve its customers and not serve themselves!!

I guess by this I can only conclude that The New India Insurance Company has been established to fool the public and make money by hook or by crook. India’s misfortune to have cheater companies like these in this country. I am extremely disappointed. Never in my life had I imagined that I would have to keep my business aside and waste my time, requesting and complaining to the company by writing them hundreds of e-mails!
