Gross Irregularity in price

Hi,

I wanted to buy a Idea netsetter 3g. On looking up the website, I was disappointed to see that there was no price mentioned for the device, although there was ample mention about the various recharges and data plans available.

On a survey of the market, I found that there was a huge difference in the price: ranging from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 2000. An authorised store in Bowenpally area of Hyderabad, whose address I got from Idea's website, said that it was impossible to get the device for less than Rs. 2000.

On contacting the customer care, (again, the number isn't available on the website, it's 9848012345 for AP), I was told that the price of the device was Rs. 1655/-. He expressed helplessness to explain the reason for the gross irregularity, especially in Idea authorized stores as listed on the website. On being asked to transfer the call to superiors, he outright denied me the right to talk to them, saying they were busy and I should call after 1 hour.

This raises grave questions on the goodwill of the company, and points towards a connivance between the company and the retailers to fleece an unsuspecting customer.
