Sation Code overkill

Indian Railways should provide ticketing on the basis of name of place rather than stations. I wanted to book a ticket from Mumbai to Kolhapur (You try it once). It said no station exist. I had to research a lot to find that Kolhapur has been renamed to C. Shahu Maharaj Terminus. This is outrageous and illogical. How the tourist and first timer are supposed to know the exact station name. Railways is simply making things difficult for passengers..
