Need Refund of travel advance from ITH - no air ticket booking made

This is regarding my brother's (Mr Arvind) experience with ITH based in Cochin, Kerala. My brother had approached ITH initially for Maldives package and was quoted a fare of 1L with a 25% holding deposit..ITH says they need advance payment to make bookings which itself is odd.

An advance of Rs 10000 was wired to ITH last on Sep 21, Wednesday for the package. As my brother did not want to keep waiting for a confirmation, he made the hotel booking online as it was convenient with instant confirmation from hotels.com and payment in USD which he preferred. So he asked ITH to just use the advance towards booking the flight. However, there was no action from them to block tickets. They kept claiming that tickets have been blcocked but when asked for a Flight PNR and itinerary, there is no response.

The travel guy George, already has a few complaints in this forum. He says he has blocked the tickets and will issue the tickets when the remaining amount is paid. However, there is no Flight PNR for the 'booked' tickets from the past week! I haven't seen any travel agent operate this way!

So my brother has decided to book the flights online to be safe and has asked George for refund of the deposit of Rs 10000. Again, no response!! I am asking ITH to give a refund of the advance immediately.

These guys are operating with no transparency and just do not communicate..They take advances but do not deliver! With no proper communciation and proof, how can customers expect to make full payment?

I would appreciate some help in this forum before intitaing action against them.. THESE GUYS DO NOT EVEN HAVE A PROPER ADDRESS IN COCHIN -. Look at their web site - it says "MG Road South, Cochin", with no street number!!!

PLS THINK TWICE BEFORE USING THIS AGENCY FOR TRAVEL, IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE. as someone else has explained before.
