This is regarding the response I am receiving regarding the after sales support of Sony Bravia 26” LCD TV which I bought couple of years ago.
Somehow, it went bad on late June (red light blinking six times) and I sought help of you customer care for repair. Service representative was sent to my home twice and all they could say that the set needs to send to service center, which I complied on June 16 and they took the set to Technocraft service center, Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Till 25th. June, I didn’t got any response about what happened to my set and what could be the approximate cost of repair. After calling to you cust support helpline, I got a callback from Technocraft (salt lake service center) that my TV’s panel went bad and need to be replaced which will cost Rs 8000/- (??). The reason for delayed response was due to the service center sent request for discount to the higher authority which came back with a negative response (on the same day after I raised the delay complaint..!!).
Hearing the amount of repair cost, I was shocked! Requested them to hold for some time while I check with any senior executive on this repair cost discount. Called the helpline (7/26) and they said that Ms Soma Bose will get back to me on this. I waited for couple of days for her call which never came..
Helpless, I called Technocraft and gave them a go-ahead on this repair. They confirmed that it will take 7 to 10 days to get my TV back as the panel comes from B’lore.
Thereafter, I am calling either Technocraft or Sony helpline only to hear that it will be repaired within very soon.
Today, it is 8/22, and I am yet to receive my TV set or any concrete date when I will get my set back in good condition.
The narration of this whole episode to you all, taking your precious time, is solely to make you aware of the pathetic ground reality which the consumers go after they buy Sony Bravia. I checked the internet and saw that large number of people share the same experience with Sony as I am undergoing.
I am not sure, whether my set will be properly repaired, but given the scenario, I am so frustrated that I am thinking of buying another TV set which will never be Sony
