Non refund of unused amount after termination

Paid rupees 3000/- as cable charges for a year from May to April. Terminated the service on 5th october. Asked for refund of unused amount. They said they had no such provisions as such money cannot be refunded. How i thi justified. Is it not infringement of fundamental rights and is it not thuggery and cheating?
