Display light not working

I have nokia 1616, i 'switch on' the torch and then when 'switch off' it, the display light of screen gone, but the mobile is in working condition, i can see slightly on display in sunlight .i shown in nokia care centre, hadapsar, pune they said i have to change the display which cost is rs.674 appro..The display is not broken or no other problems, so why i have to pay this amount, tell me what is my fault, mobile in warranty period. I am going to take this seriously.what is difference b'ween other mobile service & your.i want my light on, pls, show me the way.can't bare this amount without my mistake.
