The company is involved in selling products through telesales. The telesales people often make false promises to sell. I placed an order for Samsung Omnia Pro phone on 29/04 and was told that the MRP of the product is 14498/-. However on receipt of the product on 04/05 the MRP is printed at Rs.12400/-. On calling their helpline I was told by one MR. Sahil that the ITBC has got into an agreement with Samsung to sell products at 14498/- even if samsung reduces the prices and ITBC purchases for lower prices. Sahil was supposed to transfer the line to his seniors which did not happen. I need to speak to Nitin Sawhney – Head ITBC Retail. However there are no contact details provided for the person.

On another order of Kodak Digicam C182, I placed the order on 10/04 and received it on 05/05. The parcel was intact however the box of Digital Camera was tampered. It did not have seal and was fastened by normal celotape. The camera box read that a 2gb card and camera pouch were part of the product. However both were missing from the box. On enquiring with Ms. Heena on their helpline 40502424, I was informed that ITBC sells products without accessories, however she did not accept that the box was tampered and the accessories removed from the box. On inquiring with a local shop, I came to know that the pouch and memory card were part of the product. Ms. Heena told me “What happened if the box was not sealed, camera is working na.” This is the kind of response we get from executives of such a reputed group. On asking for replacement, she told me I would have to send the camera alongwith a complaint letter and they would replace the product but without the accessories. I do not know if I did this when would i receive the product again.

I have posted on this forum as I need to get in touch with Mr. Nitin Sawhney as soon as possible. The actions/ false promises of junior executives is earning a bad name for the India Today Book Group.
