Ticket cancellation charges

I booked a ticket on Jetlite on 12th Aug for 4 of us to fly from Delhi to Bangalore on 10th Oct.

Paid Rs 21, 000 for the 4 tickets.

2 weeks later I wanted to change this reservation to fly back on 12th Oct.

I checked on the internet and fares had dropped to Rs 17, 500 for the 4 tickets, plus they were refundable fares!

I called up the airline in the hope that they would just be able to change the dates on the tickets for me - I did not expect or want a refund of the difference or anything... just wanted to change the dates!

The airline staff completely refused to accomodate my request saying that even though I had paid a higher fare, it was a Non-Refundable ticket and I would have to pay Rs 7400 as cancellation fees if I wanted to make this change.

Worldwide typically if you pay a higher fare you get a Refundible ticket - here it is the reverse! I paid a higher fare for a Non-Refundible ticket and there is a lower fare being sold that is Refundible.

I am extremely frustrated by the airline and their staff's attitudes.
