Egarding the returning of money

Hi. i bought one 512mb RAM the otherday. the cost was rs 800. since it wasn't compatible with the system, so i went to get it exchanged. In return i took 256 mb ram whose cost was rs 300 smthng. now my problem is that the person is not returning the rest of 500rs. he is saying that you eiethr buy something or u can take the slip, bt we won't return you the cash.

is this kind of thing geniuine when i have already taken one item in return of that?
