Lenovo y500 notebook
Dvd writer not working

I purchased my laptop in oct 07.since than my dvd writer has stopped working for several times.i got it replace 2 times during the warranty period.last time i got it replace in august 08.but now again it has stopped working.n my laptop is also out of warranty.its reading dvd but not cd.and its not writing cd or dvd.please help.
