Attery and dvdrom

My ac adapter is plug in and not charging... wont boot if i run on battery alone. dvd rom..any kind of cd's and dvd's wont work... i sent it to the service center they told me that they replace the dvdrom drive but i suspect that they only repair it. it work for a month. now warranty has expired... this laptop is only 1yr and half old...
