Registered Mobile No. Changed

I am holder of airtel DTH, my customer ID is 3001096501. I applied for change of my registered mobile number from 9412553262 to 9634319395 as per their SMS, the number was indeed changed but instead of 9634319395 a unknown number 9997687629 was registered. I contacted customer care in this regard and they as usual said it will be done but nothing is done till date I also called on the dealer through which connection was taken, he also said that problem is solved but still my number is shown as 999768629 in account information, as a result of this I can not use SMS for any type of inquiry. I applied for this change only because I thought airtel number will be better than BSNL number for this purpose, now I regret my decision.

Will these airtel people listen? by only saying yes sir yes sir on customer service does not solve problems, some practical work also needs to be done.
