Minimum Balance Charge on Salary Savings A/c
My father had an account with HDFC bank (SB : 05061300004934) for over last 6-7 years. As he passed away last year (as some dues were to be recovered and the account was kept functional) and I being a joint holder last inquired for minimmum balance required in January whereby I was informed it was Rs. 5, 000. Since then i didn't made any transactions with the bank neither did I received any statement from their side till in July stating that the Bank has deducted Rs 827.25 as 'AQB SER CHGS INC ST & CESS APR- JUN', as minimum balance was not maintained in the account. But the balance at no point of time went below Rs. 5, 000.
As I spoke to hte bank officials and they said that the minimum balance has been raised to Rs. 10, 000 and the same would have been mentioned in the statement forwarded to me. But I have not received any balance statement for the quarter nor did any seperate intimation was passed on to me in this regards.
Also as I demanded and got a copy of their latest terms and conditions and it read that minimum balance for senior citizens is Rs. 5, 000. My father even as he passed away and prior to that was a senior citizen, and now even my mother who is a joint holder was a senior citizen but the bank has not considered the same.
Strict actions need to be initiated against the bank for not intimating the changes to their customers as also for not upgrading their records.
