HSBC Credit Card Fraud
Impersonation

On 9th February I received a call from a Chennai Airtel Landline number 42968930 informing me that I have a credit card with HSBC since 2002. It was news to me since I had never applied for any credit card with that bank nor did have any type of dealing with the bank. Though I was telling him continuously that this is a clear case of fraud, he was not willing to listen and was threatening me like people will come to your house, we will send a legal notice to your current employer etc. When I asked him as to when the card was issued, he said 22nd May. The great irony is I was not in India from Jan till 2008. The other news he gave me was that I had once made a payment for the usage of card. I could not help laughing. I have called up HSBC and given the details. Does anybody have such an experience. I am writing this on 10th February and have not heard anything from HSBC officials.
