DELAY IN CHEQUE

I have invested 10000/- in KOTAK ELSS FUND, i have given redemtion in Oct.2010 through CAMS, but due to my old address i have not received the cheque. I again tried to get my cheque on new address so that i had submit my new address application, pan card detail and bank details. After a long communication i have received the cheque today i.e on 9th march with dated 8th Oct. on cheque.

I just want to know what is my fault?

and it is possible to get 5 month intrest on it?
