MANAPPURAM GOLD LOANS
ISSUED A FAKE CURRENCY NOTE

Dear Sirs,

I have a pain full story of mine which I wish to lodge as a complaint here. On 25.05.2012 I took gold loan worth Rs.24000/- by pledging some 20 grams of gold at Kacheguda Branch, Hyderabad. After due procedure Cashier had issued me 13 notes of Rs.1000/- and 22 notes of Rs.500/- amounting to Rs.24000/-. While receiving the money as far as possible and up to my level of knowledge I checked the notes and i went off the branch. After that I had gone to S.R.Nagar ICICI Bank Branch, where I thought of depositing the same money into my Account. But while making the transaction cashier had returned back one Rs.1000/- note saying that it is a fake note (the vertical green silver line is abnormal in this case) and while handing over that note to me the cashier had made two cross lines with ball pen across the said note. I was surprised knowing this but help less at that moment. So I made a deposit for remaining Rs.23000/- and went back directly to Manappuram Kacheguda Branch and intimated the thing. There cashier at his most possible level denied that he did not issue that note. Then came the manager and told me by using the general law that it is my responsibility to check the notes before leaving the premises and he is help less. Well, inspite of much arguement, I could not get benefited there and I was ruthlessly rejected. Well I took some time to get digested for this changes. I can't flow that note again and ultimately I loose Rs.1000/-.

Here are some questions for your perusal:

(1) The proof in this case is very vague since I can't write all the numbers of the currency notes while I receive and there is no information even at the cashier while he issue the money except writing the denominations.

(2) Next comes the verification of the notes I receive in the transaction. The generally followed practice of verification is searching the hidden value number at the left side of the note under a light, which I did and found correct. But in this case the vertical green silver mixed line is abnormal (as bank people say) which I think only experts in this field may aware.

(3) As per the recent news Crores worth fake currency has been flooded in to the Indian Markets. How come a common man like me is expected in verifying the abnormalities in the fake notes. How many fake currency numbers can be remembered while making each and every hurry worry transactions. Suppose the volume of the receiving notes is high, how much time it is required to check each and every note manually.

(4) Interestingly at the banks and other financial institutions the cashiers uses the hitech methods in verifying the notes such as using fake currency detector machines, the electrical lights specially fixed at their hand levels to check hidden numbers. Where as the common persons (money receivers) are not equipped with the machines in this case. We need to satisfy(?) our selves just by following manual verification with half knowledge.

(5) Even RBI is not taking the responsibility in these type of cases as this is illegal and crime. Then what is the solution to the victims like me? CAN ANY ONE TELL ME PLEASE...

With Regards,

Prasad. V.
