We have received a refill gas cylinder supplied by Indian Oil through its Distributor Monmohini Gas Agency, Bidhan Nagar, Durgapur that seems to be very unsafe as it is dangerously dented. The dent causes adverse change in micro-structure that may cause rupture of the high pressure vessel. The delivery boy refused to change the cylinder opining that there is nothing to worry about. Safety cannot be compromised on the opinion of a delivery boy.
I wonder if there is any safety check by the reputed organisation because of the fact that a cylinder of that status must have been taken out of circulation and sent to scrap yard. Circulation of cylinder in such state is violation of safety codes for pressure vessels.
Only today, a serious case of cylinder burst in Delhi that has resulted several death due to consequent roof collapse.
I would request Indian Oil Authority to make an enquiry for such unsafe cylinder in circulation and take action to replace the one delivered to me by a safe one.
