Ashok Inlead School of Hospitality which is now called as INLEAD - Indian Institute of Learning and Advanced Development is sittuated at Hero Honda Chowk Gurgaon and this institute offers one year Post Graduate Diploma Courses in various fields like Hospitality Operations Management, Healthcare Administration, Corporate Administration and Facility Management, Events Management and PR, Marketing and International Hotel Management.
Friends these programs run on a different model and here lies the problem with it. The courses they offer are less than one year programs and most of the companies do not recognize this one year PG Diplomas as a formal education. They have divided their course in 4 quarters of three months each. First quarter of 3 months in the institute for classroom teaching, second quarter of 3 months of first internship in company. again third quarter of 3 months of classroom teaching and again 4th quarter of 3 months of 2nd internship or final placement. so this makes only 6 months of class room teaching for which inlead charges a hefty fee of Rs. 2.5 lakhs which is very expensive.
they say that one can recover the entire fee during internships but we all know that few companies pay decent stipend.
six months of teaching is a short time for having proper knowledge of all the subjects, hence faculty members at inlead give a touchstone knowledge of any subject for which they are not at fault. for those students who are seeking a proper management ugc or aicte approved diploma programs this is not their cup of tea hence caveat emptor.
at my time and still now their main bread and butter course is events management and public relations and to some extent health care administration is going good in terms of admission. rest other courses is either average or doing badly.
for those students who have prior work experience and need only a skill based training for them admission to this pg diploma courses is fine but for freshers like me life becomes horrible after completing pg dilpoma.
many companies where i have given interview hr person has straighway told to me that they dont recognise such diploma programs. one hr person has even enquired whether the name "Indian" in Indian Institute of Learning and Advanced Development is registered. she told that to have names like national, india, indian the name has to be approved by concerned authoritative bodies in India.
Employability Assessment Test: Inlead has a unique style of conducting emplyability assessment of students and giving them grades A, B, C.
Trust me they harrass students during these assessments. they ask a lot of questions which they have never taught.
i believe knowledge should be tested not ignorance.
If a student is undergoing internships and needs to meet his mentor at institute to seek guidance then he has to take prior appointment and then they keep you waiting at reception.
Library: Library at INLEAD is a wasteland. Just two almirah of books for these 6 courses. horrible. they dont even give you books and dont even share their ppts. some faculty gave their ppts for our convinience during examinations but it came with a rider that dont let VP know about it. at the end of the session faculty members give you concise notes.
Placements: it is good for good students and tough for average students. good students also get placed by their own efforts. Just like any other college students who even get placed by their own efforts are also shown by institute as placement made by institute. the highest package made by students in royal cruise is self made efforts and not by institute.
Service Tax: inlead also charges service tax as applicable in haryana. surprisingly this is not charged in other b schools offering two year programs.
