I am suffering one of the worst experiences after buying an LG Spilt AC on 15/04. The model I bought is a 5-star, latest technology, highest end dual display model.

The first day it was installed (17/04), the horizontal wings could not be started by the installer. (authorised installer from LG). A formal complaint had to be lodged and an service engineer came in (quite promptly though to be honest) and corrected it by changing some wire connection inside the room unit. He claimed that this was the fault of the installer though I am quite confident that this part of the machine was not touched by the installer and the defect was in original equipment. Even if it was the installer's fault, then also it is proven that the LG's authorised installers do not know their work properly. When I requested the machine to be replaced as it was showing defects on the first day, I was bluffed off by both the service engineer as well as the dealer.

Within less than a month (12/05) of the purchase, the room temperature sensor failed. It started showing 18 degree cetigrade in the height of Kolkata summer!!! Of course, this meant that the AC was getting cut off every time we started it. Again the same route of complaint, another service engineer came at 3 PM on 13/05 and tried out one option and it did not work. He coolly walked off. When I asked for unit replacement, he asked me to speak to the dealer and the dealer responded that it was the company's responsibilty, not HIS. After about 15 phone calls to service center and the dealer, after repeated shouting matches, utter un responsiveness, another engineer visit was promised by 8.00 PM and finally arrived at home at 8.45 PM. He tried out another option which too failed and he also did not have any backup plan. Then he informed that the whole control panel will need to be changed and that will again happen next day. The next day another person came and has changed the control panel and the room tempearature control is now working. But it has introduced other issues like delayed start of the compressor and incomplete movement of the vertical wings

In between when I had repeatedly asked for a replacement of the room unit, I was told various things including that a replacement may take 2 weeks, secondly, that the replacement was done after 3 part change and thirdly, replacement done only if mechanical parts failed.

I would like to request a complete fully working replacement or a at least a warranty that the current changes will work. Meanwhile, throughout this ordeal there was never even one apology either from the dealer or the service centres.

I would like warn off all potential LG AC customers!!! Also, request LG Senior managers to both manage AC product and Service better
