I bought a Maytag washer (centennial) because of its reputation. I bought the washer on June 7th of 2011. On June 15 the washer just quit working. I called Maytag, they said since the warranty was over that I had to pay a technician to come out and it would cost $129. I was upset but I had to have a washer so I scheduled it. The tech came out said the motherboard was bad. He said that this has been a common problem with this machine and that Maytag should actually recall the part. The replacement part was much better. He suggested I call and complain. The part was $180. He said that Maytag may reimburse me because it was so close to the warranty cut off. I mean seriously - 8 DAYS past the warranty. That is ridiculous. I called Maytag back and explained the situation. I really think they should have paid for all of it, but I would settle for at least part of it. It was a just a week from the warranty date. I got the response of "since you already paid for it there isnt anything we can do."
That is crap. I am in the customer service industry and there is NO WAY I would let a consumer get treated with such disregard. Maytag is profitting off of a false reputation and think people should be aware.
