Dear Sir,
I wish to bring to your attention a most blatant case of cheating by a
shopkeeper in my vicinity. I had a old refrigerator (Zenith), but of late
it started giving us trouble, So my mother thought of getting it sold.
Now he approached a local vendor and just enquired about the rate at which
our old one can get disposed off. The shopkeeper, named Kanhaiya a
co-partner of the shop, took my mother to our home and after inspection
fixed the price at 2600/- INR which she gladly consented to.
Now the shopkeeper convinced my mother that she should get a new fridge and
made her to accord her approval for LG 240 Litres Ap4 model fridge. In a
haste, he got the fridge downloaded at our home and charged 15000/- INR
which after bargaining came down to 14800/- INR. My simple mother
immediately handed her over a cheque of 12200/- INR after deducting 2600 INR
for old fridge.
Next day, some visitors just dropped in and they were amazed to hear the
price. A male member immediately visited a local shop and enquired about the
price and lo! he was quoted Rs.12900/- for the same model. I also personally
enquired and found the same. Even the LG price brochure that lied with the
shopkeeper said the price for the model should be 13300/- before negotiation
discount.
When this was brought to the notice of this defaulting shopkeeer, he was
unfazed even after committing such a heinous crime of looting the widowed
simpleton mother of mine. After much he became ready to take back the fridge
but now he started to say that our old fridge will fetch a prize of 1600 INR
only, another cheating, . Some 7 days have passed and he has not taken back
the fridge or returned back our money.
We have nobody to turn to for help except you. Please help
Thanking you,
Eagerly looking forward to your intervention,
Your's sincerely,
