In support to Amir Khan's drive to promote Generic Medicines, I wish some celebrative must come forward to arrest the business run by few Doctors & Diagnostic Lab in the City.
Let me quote an incident faced by me.
My Wife is a patient to a well known Doctor in the Town and taking life saving drugs. Once, we were told to conduct few tests in a reputed Diagnostic Lab. On account of road traffic & some issues, we were not comfortable to go to that Lab at that moment. Hence went to another well known Lab in the Town with Parking facility. The complete test cost us around Re 5000/-. It was a shock when we saw that Doctor refused to review the test report, as the test was not done in the Lab told by him. Then we had to do the repeat test in the lab, as Doctor wished, which cost me another Re 5000/- . This report made the Doctor happy. Please note that the result in both Lab was almost same.
Another case in different occasion, when wife doubted for an urinary infection gave a test in the Diagnostic Lab. The report show few traces of infection. The next day, went to Doctor for medicines in a hospital. Even after seeing the report from Lab, Doctor told to take repeat test in Hospital Lab, which shows infection count numerous. The Doctor told the case is to be attended on emergency basis, as it will affect kidney & several complicated issues. Hence, to get admitted in hospital for days. As we had doubt on his diagnosis, we went to another hospital. The Doctor in that Hospital prescribed 2 tablets and sent us home peacefully. There was no complication till now.
In both the above case, its clear that Doctors & Diagnostic Lab are taking the Patients for a ride.
May someone come forward and stop this business.
