Souharsoftech ltd (SSL) entered into an agreement with me dated 15th April '2005. They promised to make a portal for me according to the URS/SRS/Design documents/e-mails circulated between me and SSL, from the first week of April. They were given an advance payment of Rs. 5000. They were supposed to finish the project by 13th of May'2005. They were unable to deliver the project on 13th of May, so they were given a grace period of five days. Unfortunately, they couldn't finish the project by that time also!
Then we gave an extended grace period, with penalties (Rs. 750 per day). Souhar has in between came up with first samples of front end design, with tweedledum-tweedledee copy of another website! By the third week of June it was clear to me that they are technically incapable to complete my project. I abridged the project for them, on humanitarian grounds. They promised me to deliver the project by the end of June, and they promised not to take a single a single penny on completion of the project. First, coz I was incurring heavy losses, and second, penalty clauses were such that they didn't stand to get anything as even the extended grace period had to be extended further! At the meantime, souhar threatened to stall the proceedings, despite being given a lot of grace time!
On the fifth of July they uploaded a version of the project at our webspace, claiming that everything (of the abridged project) has been done. When we checked the site on 6th July' 2k5 we found basic problems still persisting. Be it front end design, or database connectivity.
Keeping in view of the quality of their work I henceforth have to call of this project, as now they are trying to blackmail me saying that they will destroy the project (which they claim to have completed, but which still has innumerable errors) if I don't pay them rupees 10000.
I want to know the steps I can take in this connection, and the various possible ways this rip off company can be taught a lesson!
