I had sent a parcel with the Asia Cargo Service Ltd Unit 35, Rosemount Road Wembley, London, HA0 4PE
when I was returning back from London in June and I still haven't received my parcel.
I was in constant touch with the company and they only kept ensuring that I would get it. When tried inquiring from the company again, I had received a letter stating that the entire consignment was ceased at the Mumbai customs, please find attached document for the same.
Recently the company has shut down and I have no clue as to how to get my parcel back.
Please let me know as to what would I have to do in order to receive my parcel?
Please guide me to the right person.

Dear Customer,
We wish to confirm receipt of your parcel/s you have given to our agent in Coventry, and wish to bring to your
attention the pending delay and reasons thereof. As you may be aware there has been a delay in delivery of parcels to the
consignee’s in India and as of to date we have yet to come to an amicable agreement with Mumbai customs for the release of
the June and July container. We wish to take this opportunity to explain the ongoing situation and our efforts to alleviate the
matter.
From early 2009 India has been on high security alert and thus all goods being imported into the country are checked
rigorously for contravention and abuse of import regulations. The June container is still undergoing a DRI audit, however the
July container has been checked and many contraband items have been found such as electrical items, passport, jewellery,
money, alcohol, etc... We at Asia Cargo Service do not condone nor promote this; and is against the principle of our terms and
conditions.
The custom authority views each container and the parcel therein as a single entity. Where abuse to custom regulation
has taken place by the individual shipper, the whole container is held liable, as per our terms and conditions, we too are
governed by the said import and custom regulation of that country and abide by it. Where such abuse comes to light either in
part or as a whole, we absolve our responsibility and deem the contract between ourselves and the individual shipper as null
and void, and will abandon the container and leave the custom authorities and relevant bodies to deal with the
container/consignment as it sees fit. We will co-operate with the relevant person/bodies to bring the responsible parties to task,
we do so without prejudice to any individual rights.
Furthermore the nature of our business, and as you are aware, and the reason for concessions on postage from the UK
to consignees in India compared to that of couriers such as Royal Mail and DHL are because our consignments are sent by sea
in a container ship in ‘job-lot’ fashion. The containers are seen by Mumbai customs to be sent from Asia Cargo Service to its
sister company in India, Asia Parcel Service; from single customer to single consignee and it is in this fashion we are able to
give heavily discounted rates on shipments, thusly the container/consignment is viewed as a single entity.
Mumbai customs have valued the July container consignment at 90Lakh Rs; ~ £131, 164.55 (includes fines and
penalties). We believe this figure to be grossly overvalued and this demand will pull the company into liquidation
/administration leading to bankruptcy. We have tried to get individual parcels assessed in order that only the rogue parcels are
levied upon; this has been refused. We continue to negotiate with Mumbai customs for its release of the said containers at a
reasonable cost.
We therefore would welcome an input by you to a request for contribution by all shippers to the amount of £25 per
parcel in order to activate release of the consignment/container. Please send cheques made payable to ASIA CARGO
SERVICE and write your parcel number on the reverse of the cheque.
All enquiries will only be handled in writing and not by phone, if you do wish to discuss the matter further, feel free to write to
