Dear all/ concerned,

I held a credit card from Citibank which was pushed to me as a card with some add on features around fuel surcharges. The card was issued to me in 2006 and I used it a few times only for fuel filling purposes. I used to find the replayment of the dues very difficult due to non availability of adequate number of ATMs to drop the cheque. After a few days I recieved a letter from the bank stating that there are some dues to my account. Thy had levied some charges against it which they duly reversed on my request on payment of the dues. As per me the statement should have been closed by that time. However, to my dismay they now claim that there was some Rs 500 pending against my card which now has gone up to over Rs 8, 000. I keep getting calls from collection agencies who are least informed about what is the original outstanding amount and for what purchase. I have asked the Citibank people (calling me up) umpteen number of times to let me know of what was the original payment for and to send a consolidated statement. I will be most happy to repay the principal as saving Rs 500 will not do much of a favour to my bank balances. I have not got the desired information for months now. All I get are inflated statements on a month on month basis. I do not know what to do and where to go. i am not willing to pay such a huge amount against a meagre outstanding od Rs 500 (which I still need clarity on). I had also explicitly requested the bank to cancel the card, which was again not done.
