I am one of the members in a Co-operative Housing Society registered under the West Bengal Cooperative Societies Act. At the time of buying the apartment I was working in Kolkata but subsequetly I had to go to Delhi on transfer. Since I had availed a loan on the flat I had to let it out on rent so as to meet the EMI for the Loan availed from Bank.
This year my tenant vacated and I had negotiated with another person, he is all likely to shift into that flat. As per advice of one of the co-members / Secretary of the Society I was suppose to introduce the tenant to the society. During the last meeting of all the members, I submitted a lettter introducing the person along with the copy of his bio-data. Only one member out of 12 has objection in letting my house stating that we have to inform the Registrar of Societies and get an approval from him then only the tenant would be allowed to stay in my flat. My query whether the other member's contension is true?
