Delay in delivery and inefficient customer support

Sir/Madam

I had sent a courier using the above mentioned company, DTDC courier Ltd, from their franchisee office in phase 9, Mohali, Punjab, on 19th April. The package contained books and was adressed to Col. Satpreet Singh, c/o DTDC courier Ltd, Binnaguri, Distt. Jalpaiguri. The person who took the package from me said that it will be delivered on the 7th day. When the package was not delivered on the said date i went to the phase 9 office again and asked for a feedback on the status of the package, after repeated visits and phone calls, they logged a complaint with the customer care and gave me a complaint number, i then personally went to the regional office in sector 35, Chandigarh and checked the status of my complaint where in i was told that it is difficult to trace the package and i will be called back in a day. I did not recieve any call from then and finnaly the courier got delivered on 5th May. The delay has caused much inconvenience as the books were sent for a purpose which has now not been fulfilled and so have i spent so much cash on petrol and phone calls contacting these people again and again.

Please guide me as to what relief can i get.
