My Personal loan ref # 1128195. I had obtained a personal loan in jan for Rs 75000 & for paying the EMI I was asked to open a new account with HDFC . When I informed the Rep who was processing the loan that Before this I was paying the EMI's from my Cosmos Bank acc he told me that this acc is only for paying the EMI's & it will be a zero balance acc. After 3 or 4 months I saw that this new acc with HDFC was not a zero bal acc but I had to keep a bal of rs 5000 for every quarter. My checks had bounced as the Bank had charged me the penalty for not maintaining the minimum bal in my account. I stopped operating the acc & the meantime the Bank aslo deposited a cheque inMy Cosmos Bamk acc without Informing me. When I talked to the Bank officials in the Pune Loan department abt this they informed me that they have no way of knowing who had opened this account for me & if I could provide them with a name of the rep who had opened the acc for me. I had paid the amount for the returned check to the Bank & after that a person from a collection Agency started to come to my house every month to collect the EMI . I am in the Sales & Marketing field & is always on tours for the entire month. Now i wanted to foreclose my account & whwn the collection Agent came to my house I told him that I wanted this account to be closed. He informed me that there is still a bal of Rs 21028 & only 3 EMI's are remaining. I was shocked to know this as I was paying every month & was never informed by the Bank that there will be a alte pay fees or charges for the check ret fees which is close to Rs 16000. I fail to understand why the bank did not inform me about this before as for almost two years I was paying to the collection Agency & even they did not tell me that there is a fees for the check bounces. I feel very much about this that even after paying such a high interest on a personal loan I am being asked to pay this additional amount. As a reputed Bank I think that it was also the Banks responsibilty to inform the customer about the account status & ask him to fulfil the necessary requirements of the Bank. Please advise as what is to be done now as I am in no position to pay such a huge amount now. I am ready to close the acc with whatever minimum charges possible. Thank You
