Fraud in opening a savings account

I went to HDFC Branch in Thillai Nagar, Trichy, Tamilnadu for opening a New Savings account (Joint A/c) on 04/08/08. The Account opening officer (J.DINESH RUBEAK) told me that all New Savings account Primary Card holder will have only Easy shop International Gold Debit card pre activated for his account. Gold Card is a default card for New A/c holders and it would be charged Rs. 500/- p.a.

I insisted showing the application that there are options for other cards also for primary card holder. But even then he told me that Gold card is Mandatory to start a new account.

Even though paying Rs. 500/- p.a. is not a matter for me, I do not find the additional features of Gold card much appealing and useful to me. But for the sake of opening the account and on believing the words of the officer, I opened the account with Gold card.

A/C No. is 00581530800161.

Later through friends and customer care, I came to know that Gold Card is not mandatory. New A/c could be opened with International Debit Card with an annual fee of Rs. 100/- p.a.

Though paying Rs. 500/- p.a. is not a matter for me, I find this as a pure cheating behavior. I am fed up to continue relation with the bank.

I also spoke to the same person mentioning the above. Now he replies that “If u r not interested in the card u can change the card after one year with a charge of 150/&-ldquo;. Irresponsible behavior.

I am hopeless to believe this person.

Pls. give me a solution.
