After buying a new home in Pune, we had placed an order for modular kitchen with HOMETOWN, a part of HOME SOLUTIONS RETAIL (INDIA) LIMITED, and partner of EVERSHINE (Surat). This retail outlet of HomeTown is located in Ishanya Mall, Yerwada, Pune. The total cost of the modular kitchen was Rs. 1, 08, 175 (around One lakh and eight thoushand rupees).
According to HomeTown's Terms and Conditions:
(1) We paid 50% of the total cost (Rs. 54, 000) for confirming the order on 21st May.
(2) We paid the remaining 50% of the cost (around Rs. 54, 000) after the components arrived (from Evershine company in Surat) but before the installation on 6th July.
Here is what happened after we paid the entire amount:
(A) Many components arrived at our house from their warehouse after about 3 days. The carpenters hired by HomeTown took another 4 days for installing the modular kitchen. The (unfinished) modular kitchen was ready to use on 13th July.
(B) Here is the shocking part. It was only after the carpenters installed the modular kitchen, did we realize that the following items were missing:
(i) 25 handles for drawers and shelves
(ii) 8 glass panels
(iii) Detergent holder
(iv) Gas cylinder trolley
(C) After visiting HomeTown in Ishanya Mall and lodging a complaint, we were told that these items were not dispatched from Evershine (Surat) and would arrive "soon". However, NONE OF THESE ITEMS ARRIVED EVEN AFTER A MONTH, in spite of making repeated phone calls. Imagine opening and closing so many drawers and shelves without handles for such a long time.
(D) After making a second visit to HomeTown and filing a strong complaint with one of their senior employees, only the 25 handles got installed on 13th August (AFTER A MONTH!).
(E) We were told that the 8 glass panels, detergent holder and gas cylinder trolley would be installed within 4 days. It has already been a week and there is still no sign of these items. When we phone their representatives, they simply give the excuse "we are working on it".
My advice to those who are considering a modular kitchen in Pune:
DO NOT ORDER YOUR MODULAR KITCHEN FROM HOMETOWN, part of HOME SOLUTIONS INDIA LIMITED, partner of EVERSHINE, Surat. They only know how to take 100% of the payment from the customer and complete only 70% of the job even after a month.
Me and my wife have been through a harrowing experience and would like to caution other like-minded people.
