I had purchased a Honda Activa in October from C.R Scooters bearing registration number GJ6 CS 6628. Mileage Driven – 2067 kms.
I had some concerns to share and elaborate as below:
1. The vehicle was purchased from this dealer as I had no choice and the lead time was frustrating. It is sad to tell that the dealer staff is not well trained to handle customers and behave as if they are doing a favour by selling the vehicle to us.
2. The vehicle was fit with accessories like the steel side guards and mudguard protector but was not fitted with quality and started vibrating and letting off the screws. When investigated, the holes were not tapped properly and right size of screws were not used. This was reported to Mr. Atul Purohit on the very first service and he said that this is the best it could be and we should live with this. I had an argument and told him technically why this was not okay and he agreed to set this right. Unsuccessful, I had to help myself, I shall show you once you come down to inspect this vehicle. I would insist that the company puts these accessories and give it with quality rather than allow these unscrupulous dealers to make money and not return quality.
3. I had reported the problem of wheel wobbling and vehicle pulling on one side and this was heard. I don’t have a copy of the job sheet where I could see it entered as they take the copy with signature of satisfaction at the time of handing over the counter slip. They did something but it was not rectified, and I was asked to observe the problem and report. I reported this and they asked me to get this done in the 2nd service.
4. At the 2nd service, I made them write specifically on the problem and this time too, Mr. Atul Purohit tried explaining me that it is correct and they have worked on the problem. I drove the vehicle and did take Mr. Purohit for a test drive. The vehicle steered to the right or left when we try to take one hand off the vehicle steering. He said that it seems that there is a problem and owed it to the tyre. He said that Honda Scooters have this problem with all Activa as the tyre treads are uneven. He said that the tread is on the centre of the tyre and this gives this kind of problem. He also said that Honda is living with this problem and not able to find a solution. He asked me to ask my wife to drive this vehicle and report later.
5. My wife drives this vehicle and she has had 2 miraculous escapes owing to the vehicle steering on one end on the straight road. I felt that she was wrong and when I tried driving I observed that it was too bad to drive this.
6. I again took this vehicle today and kept it for the whole day saying that I see the pulling one side has increased and there was an abnormal bushing noise / bearing noise too – squeaking. In the evening when I went to take the delivery of the vehicle, I am said that the vehicle is okay. I took the vehicle out with the Mechanic and hardly 10 metres would have been driven and I noted the squeaking noise coming in. I reported this and to my surprise he says this is okay. Secondly when I asked him to drive the way I felt / diagnosed the problem, he did and noticed that the vehicle has a problem but does not agree to it.
