I had booked a hotel room in Viceroy Hotel, Mysore for 11th july. However on 10th morning newspaper i read about some communal violence there - since i was travelling with my family I thouhgt it may not be safe.
Now having taken that decision, I planned to cancel my booking. I was aware that the hotel had a 1 night retention policy - but this was an exceptional case since the area was violent prone & not safe to travel.
I tried to explain this to both make my trip & hotel viceroy official but they were adamant - causing me a lot of stress and harrasment. They agreed to around 45% refund only
I think as a consumer - such situations should be given special preference and as much refund as possible (after deducting only processing fees) should be given to consumer
