H.P.C.L. / Domestic LPG cylinder
Gas leakage from cylinde

Date : - 24/08/08

My consumer no. 702707

LPG cylinder supplier : - Pragati Gas Service, Gurgaon 122 001.

I have two domestic H.P. cylinders of LPG (14.2 kg net wt.).

On Friday (23/08/08) evening, running cylinder was exhausted. Hence, my wife removed the empty cylinder and fitted another full cylinder. But as soon as she started the gas to the gas stove, she noticed gas leakage from the cylinder where the regulator was fitted. She immediately telephoned Pragati Gas Service (0124 2330143, 2334343) at about 8 P.M. but nobody attended it. She could not cook the food for dinner.

Next day morning (24/08/08), when I was there at home, I took out the rubber seal from the leaking cylinder and found that there was small cut at inner side of the seal due to which gas was leaking. I again telephoned Pragati Gas Service and given the complainet at 9.45 A.M. At 11.0 A.M. a person came to attend the complaint.

I think, this is very dangerous situation. I believe, each and every cylinder must be checked for leakage after refilling the gas. I also believe that there must be some time bound replacement frequency of cylinder rubber seal in which regulator is fitted. In spite of this, how such things happen?

You are requested to review the process of prevention of gas leakage from the cylinder. You are also requested to speed up the service on at least such leakage cases to avoid any major accident.

With warm regards
