Not able to download software

I have purchased compaq desktop printer in the scheme i got printer hp Deskjet f4288 All-in-One, the cd for software supplied is not functioning, whenever i tried to download software my pc goes off.i don't know wether

the cd is faulty.i have gone through the www.hp.com/support but not found solloution.
