I had booked an i10 in the month of Dec with A1 Hyundai, Andheri (East), Mumbai. Right at the time of booking I had made it very clear to the saleman that I want a car not manufactured earlier than Oct and that I want the car spotless without any defects on the paint work. The sales person assure me that it won't be earlier than Oct. All through the process of making payment and doing the paperwork I asked each and everyone involved about the manufacturing date but they tried nicely to conceal the fact and they tried to avoid givingthe date of manufacturing.

On the day of delivery (Sunday) when I went to the dealer with my family, I found that the painting on the bonnet was not proper there were lot of scratches all over the body. The tail light was damaged and the remote locking system which I had purchased as an accessory was not functioning properly. I was so annoyed and upset over this that I did not take delivery of the vehicle on that day and told them to rectify the defects and hand over the vehicle to me. I also told them that they have to do a teflon coatingto the whole vehicle before handing it over to me which they agreed to do after lot of dilly dallying. I waited patiently for 2 days but there was no news from A1 Hyundai. On calling the sales persons I did not get aproper response from them. Another peculiar thing is no responsible guy talks to the customer here. They put forth all naive salemen who have no idea of what they are doing and have no knowledge of the product they are selling. They also have no idea about how A1 Hyundai works. After making a lot of hue and cry they finally agreed to give the vehicle 3 days after the actual delivery date. This time I did not take my family since it was a working day and I went alone (My family missed this occassion thanks to A1 Hyundai). I once again found that the scratches on the bonnet (which I later realised that were actually because of the painting not being proper) were still there and teflon coating was not done. Frustrated I thought atleast I will take the delivery because I could not afford to lose another day with this insensitive dealer.

When I started driving the vehicle I noticed that the gear shift was not smooth also there was lot of cabin noise in the vehicle coming from loose panels. One of the days I noticed that there were cracks on the side walls of the tyres. I also saw oil leaking from both rear hatch shock absorbers. I started suspecting something funny in the vehicle. normally in new cars you are not supposed to face these type of problems. One fine day I received the smart card and top my maximum frustration I found that the year of manufacturing was Jan. They sold me a car manufactured a year earlier. The car was a year old when I bought it. That after paying for a new car. I approached Hyundai Motor with all my complaints all that they did was direct me to A1 Hyundai to get my problems solved.

The present situation is, I am looking for guidance as to claim for compensation or for a new car. As usual I don't think Hyundai will be proactive in getting this issue sorted out.
