I have taken a home loan from ICICI and the first EMI is to be cleared through ECS on Sept. 10. I have been getting harassing calls from Delhi Phone Numbers 30716150, 30716210, 30716000 & 30716090 stating that they are calling from ICICI Bank.
On Sept. 6, I get a call stating that the first EMI was to be paid on 5th Sept. and that the ECS will not hit due to some technical reasons. She stated that she would send a person to collect the payment. Being on the way and not having records at hand and having no reason to disbelieve what the lady was saying, I told her to send the person. Reaching home, I checked up the record and found that the EMIs were supposed to be collected on 10th of every month by ECS. I tried to call back the telephone number but it did not connect.
On Sept. 8, the lady again called up repeating the same story of ECS not hitting on Sept. 5 and on being confronted with the fact that the ECS schedule is actually for 10th of every month and not 5th, she turned volte-face and rudely stated that the ECS would also not hit on 10th and that her representative was already at my residence and I should arrange payment immediately. I asked her to send in writing that the ECS would not hit on 10th and I'll make the payment. She grew more rude and threatened that she would spoil my track record for the loan and if I wanted to get anything in writing, I should go to Videocon Tower, Delhi and make payment myself and get in writing whatever I wanted to. I, however, declined to make the make payment till the date 10th had expired and the ECS had not hit.
On Sept. 9, she again called up seeking collection of payment on Sept. 10 and I flatly refused to make payment until and unless it was given to me writing or Sept. 10 had expired.
On Sept. 10, she again calls up and seeks payment and upon my statement that I'll check in the evening if the ECS had hit or not and then make payment on 11th, she rudely wanted to fix a time slot for 11th and I being on the move and not having access to my appointments for 11th told her to call on 11th morning. This infuriarated her and she accused me of cheating & robbing the Bank. Ultimately, she settled by stating that she would call on 11th for fixing time for collection of payment.
Not to my surprise, the ECS did hit on 10th and has been duly cleared. On 11th I write an email to Customer Service of the Bank with a copy to a senior officer of the Bank. They reply that this will not repeat in future.
Again on 13th, I get a call again seeking payment of the same EMI.
HAVE I taken a loan from ICICI Housing Finance Company Limited for being hounded by representatives of the Bank, even when the payment had not become due followed by calls each day with threats and insinuating remarks. This is repeated even after the payment has been cleared in routine. HAVE I taken the loan for being cheated by collection of installment twice (in my case, you could not succeed).
It does not go with the reputation of and expectations from Bank of status and repute (or disrepute, as it needs to be called now). If it is not the ICICI, who called up, how and why a stranger had access to information regarding my Home Loan and my mobile phone number.
This Bank is a bunch of goons out to cheat you.
