My son, Kavish Khanna along with one of his friend, G.S. Bhatti boarded the No. 2703/FALAKNUMA EXPRESS from Howrah Station on 04.03.08. They were to appear for an interview in Hyderabad for a job in Hotel Industry. Both are presently students of International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), Hyderabad. I booked the to and fro ticket for them in sleeper class through internet. Since I am based in NOIDA and they were in Kolkata at their institute, I told them to get their ticket printed after logging in my account through booked tickets history. Incidentally, there was some problem on the IRCTC site and the service for viewing booked tickets history was not available a day before the date of departure. I, therefore scanned the tickets printout, I had with me and sent to them through mail. They were carrying the print out of the scanned ticket along with the ID proof.
The TTE & the head TTE misbehaved with both the children and did not allow them to travel to their destination. They told that the printout of original ticket is required for travelling and threatened them to put them in jail by calling the police at Bhabneshwar Railway station. Out of fear they had to get down and had no alternative but to return back to Kolkata. Inspite of my repeated requests over phone they were reluctant to allow them to travel though they had a genuine ticket and their names appeared in their charts.
This is really a case of harassment of the students by the TTEs. Instead of being co-operative & polite to the passengers, they are harrassing the genuine passangers and accomodating the ingenuine passengers by way of taking bribe. For a few bucks, they have played with careers of the two students. Such culprits should be identified and be given due punishment for what they have done.
