Battery problem

I have purchased Kinetic Honda scooter in April 1987 and it was with me till May’2009. It has not given any problem except regular servicing, etc. With my good experience of driving a Kinetic Honda, I purchased KINETIC FLYTE on exchange offer from M/s Northern Motors, 1A/260 Neelam Bata Road, Faridabad. The dealer Code No. is DN040.

Now, I am thinking that I have committed a blunder by buying this Kinetic Flyte because it has started giving trouble from the day I purchased it. I am regularly visiting the dealer for one or other problems as detail below:-

1. Initially the lock gave problem which was repaired.

2. After first service, the bulb under the seat was fused, so I asked the dealer to change the same. The dealer changed it after the third service as the bulb was not available in their stock earlier.

3. Few days after changing the bulb, the battery started giving trouble as I could not start scooter through self, and kick was used for the same. After few days the kick also got out of order and repaired by the dealer.

4. Then after some time a noisy sound started occurring while running the scooter on road for about half K.M. this problem was also sorted out by the dealer temporarily. This problem re-occurred after few days and on next morning the scooter did not start after repeated attempts. Then the mechanic was called from Northern Motors at my residence to solve this problem.

5. In the meanwhile, the battery gave problem and I approached the authorized Exide battery dealer as advised by the Northern Motors and the battery dealer told that there is a problem in your scooter, Battery is OK but northern motors kept on insisting that battery needs charging. So, I got the battery charged twice within 6 months of the purchase of scooter and it was kept for charging at dealer or authorized Exide battery dealer for which I paid Rs.40/= each time. Even after charging it was not up to the mark and after perusing the authorized battery dealer so many times I got the battery replaced during the warranty period of one year after paying Rs.150/= charges to the authorized Exide dealer.

6. The battery again became out of order on 25/8/09 as the scooter was not starting with self key. I visited the dealer (Northern Motors) on 28/8/09 to show the starting problem. The scooter started with self two times in front of the dealer and on third occasion it did not start. The dealer told me that the battery needs charging and he kept the battery for charging. I went to the dealer on 29/8/09 at 5.00 P.M. to collect the battery, he inserted the charged battery and tried to start the scooter with self but it did not start even once with self then he told that battery is down/ defected so it could not be charged. When I told that the battery was replaced about 6 months back how it became defective, the mechanic and the other person attending the scooter could not give any satisfactory reply. The dealer was not available for hearing my complaint. Then I asked them to check the fuse of the battery connection, to my surprise I was shocked to see that a naked wire was attached to connect the terminals under the fuse. It shows that at the time of servicing the fuse might have been blown and instead of replacing the fuse a naked wire was fixed under the fuse which might have damaged the battery due to negligence in the part of dealer. I, therefore, request you to advise how I solve my problem with the scooter.

7. I was so fade up by day to day problem of the scooter that at one point of time I even asked the dealer to change my scooter and I was ready to pay the difference amount for new scooter. But, the dealer assured that there will not by any more problems next time but I am still facing one or other problem off and on.

8. From the above I am sure that there is some problem in the scooter due to which two batteries have damaged in a short span of 16 months of purchasing the scooter and the dealer is not able to solve/ detect the real cause of the problem.

9. It shows that after sale service of Kinetic/Mahindra Flyte is deteriorating day by day.
