Credit card charges debited from bank account without authorization
I had a credit card numbered 4477 4741 4803 3007 and a savings account no. 005701541467 with ICICI Bank, Prabhadevi Branch, Dadar. The card had an outstanding of Rs.18000 as of june. The Bank withdrew the sum from my savings bank account without any notice to me. I contacted the bank on their online mailing system regarding the same. They said that I have signed an agreement with them that the money outstanding on my credit card can be recovered from any other relationship that I have with the bank. I asked them a copy of the same agreement which the bank says that they have not saved the copy of the agreement.
In correspondence with the bank the bank has not replied to the following points –
• Can the bank make me sign an agreement which can allow the bank to deduct dues of one account from any other relationship which I have with the bank
• Can the bank deduct any charge from my savings bank account without prior informing me
• Is not the bank liable to furnish the documents (when asked for in case of dispute) I have signed with them
I have escalated the case to executives in ICICI Bank but to no avail. I have not received any reply from them.
