I applied my passport thru tatkal on 15/12/08 file no. A 075455.I had applied thru tatkaal as i had a family emergency and had to travel abroad to see my relative who was counting his last breath. Till 22/12/08 i waited thinking that i will receive my passport, but did not. When i visited the enquiry counter on 24/12/08 they told me that a passport was already issued on my name in kolkatta on 2nd Nov pasport no. G-3984894.
It came as a shock to me as i had applied passport for the first time ever in my life. I gave a written letter to one of the officers there at the counter gauranting that i had never before applied for a passport ever in my life in india or outside the country before. I also aksed them to cross verify my DOB, my fathers name, my mothers name, my husbands name and the photograph on the passport already issued in Kolkatta. But no help. I was given an answer that i would take 10days to verify all the details. Then what is the use of aplying thru tatkaal paying extra money? AND DOES THIS REALLY TAKE SO MUCH TIME TO VERIFY THE DETAILS? NO HELP AT ALL... i being a working lady is not possible making 100 rounds of the passport office. The most important note from past 10yeras i am settled in hyderabad... have not visited KOLKATTA once, then how can i have a passort issued there? If my passport has been blocked just for the simple reason that the first n the last name are the same... kindly look into the matter ASAP... If at all i had a paasport i wud have reached my destination... rather than wasting my time like this. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ASAP.
