A phone solicitor contacted me about a $5000 grant I was "already approved for." All I needed to do was give them my account information and I'd receive the loan on a certain date if I followed a few procedures. I am a struglling college student, so any help I can get sounds good to me.
I thought I could check it out and call and cancel if it did not check out. I could get through when I tried to cancel, so I contacted my bank. The bank representative told me the one way to garantee that check would not be posted to my account would be to close that account and open a new one with the bank. I did, but the check still posted!
The bank doesn't want to help me even though the Wavhovia represetative gave me false information, and the fraudulant grant company has not contacted me or sent me anything. I cannot contact them either. I am out $317 because of this. That may not sound like much, but to a college student paying for everything on her own, that is a lot. Please help! I'm desperate!
