We live on 6th Main Road (which was designated as a SAFE WALKING ZONE) in Malleswaram. We have been complaing to BBMP control room for more than a month now that the street lights in many parts of Malleswaram (especially on the 6th Main Road between 9th Cross and 15th Cross) are not turned on until it is quite darkn and they are turned off when it is still dark in the early morning. It is VERY UNSAFE for people to walk on the dark roads. This is the same case on the walking path around Sankey tank. It is very dark when they switch off the lights there.
The only answer we get from BBMP control room is that these street lights are under TIMER control. And they do NOTHING about it.
When BBMP is reeking of corruption to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees, they want to save a few rupees on BESCOM bill at the cost of peoples' safety and well-being. So far, all our complaints and requests to BBMP have fallen on DEAF EARS, and BBMP has turned a BLIND EYE towards peoples' problems.
We request the concerned authorities to take immediate action to turn the street lights ON and OFF based on the lighting conditions, not by a TIMER CONTROL
