Delay in issuance of passport

Dear Sir,

I, SHARMILA CHAUDHURI (date of birth 08.02.1956) have applied for a passport on 29.10.2010 in Kolkata. File ref. is CAL-W 524405-09. Police verification was completed on 07.02.2010 at Lake Town Police Station, Kolkata- 700089. On line status as on 23.03.2010 shows that the Police Report has not yet been forwarded to RPO, Calcutta.

I do not understand the reason for such delay.
