I have sent an email to the president as well (Copying the same one here)
To,
The President of India
Smt Pratibha Patil
Respected Madam,
Greetings...
This is my first email to you as a citizen of this diverse country. I need your attention towards something which may seem small and negligible however as a citizen i was extremely disapointed with the way things were managed at the waga border- Amritsar
To make it crisp
The seating capacity at the Wagah Border for the show is about a 1000 however you know how many people come to watch the show
The BSF commanders are not able to handle the crowd
There is stampede and lot of choas

Respected Madam,
Greetings...
This is my first email to you as a citizen of this diverse country. I need your attention towards something which may seem small and negligible however as a citizen i was extremely disapointed with the way things were managed at the waga border- Amritsar
To make it crisp
The seating capacity at the Wagah Border for the show is about a 1000 however you know how many people come to watch the show
The BSF commanders are not able to handle the crowd
There is stampede and lot of choas
After waiting in the queue for almost 2 hours we couldn't watch the show.
The main gate at the entrance is too narrow which makes it difficult for people to enter moreover the poor condition of the road there adds to the misery
I was totally soiled as there was a mud pool that was formed at the entrance and since people push each other, the situation gets out of hand
I could see a lot of foreign nationals enter from some VIP area, which is not acceptable if we cannot have our own country people watch it in the first place
I expressed my concern to one of the BSF official who refused to talk to me, after making several attempts he did talk in the most defensive way possible, he even said that it is not his repsonsibility to take care of the crowd. I highlighted some of the concerns raised on this email however he pushed the whole thing to police and other regulatory bodies. Some one has to take ownership of the chaos. Children crying, Elderly people being pushed. It makes the whole thing very unpleasant.
The police mounted on the horse at several junctions are ruthlesss and they scare away people with their horse almost galloping which can be fatal as well
Overall the experience was bad and was disppointed to see the poor management there. I couldn't be part of the so called "extravaganza".
Madam President, I request you to get the concerned regulatory body in place so that the turmoil is controlled to an extent.
Hoping some response from you or your office
Regards,
Sunil Nair
