Iam a working professional. I had taken up a single room in "Nest Inn hostel for women, old no 18 new no 7, 2nd lane, Appu Street, mylapore, chennai" since Feb 25. I was asked to pay a security deposit (Rs. 5000/- ) equivalent to my monthly rental for the room in advance on the booking day itself. So i paid a amount of Rs.10000/-. I was also made to sign a agreement on a xerox A4 sheet - a copy of their agreement which was hardly legible stating that i had to atleast stay for 3 months in the hostel before vacating.
I've never failed in paying my rentals - i've been paying them a monthly rental of Rs.5000/- Rs.200/- (laptop charges) inbetween 1-4th of every month. Now that my company has transeferred me to delhi from the chennai branch. At the time of paying advance they had told me that they would refund me back my advance when i leave but now they are refusing to pay me my full amount stating that i should have informed them a month earlier.
I had informed the landlady a month back in the month of may itself that i would be transfered from chennai as i had asked for it in my company, now she refuses that i should have informed her the dates. But what do i do, if i was myself intimated by the company on 12th June that iam supposed to report in my delhi office by 1st july as my transfer had been accepted by the Head Office. I immediately informed the landlady the same evening but now she refuses to pay me back my security deposit of Rs.5000/- in full and says that she would be able to pay only Rs.2500/- as i didnt give her a months notice. This is pure harassmant and cheating on their part.
