Me and my family went to PatniTop (J & K) for holidays on 27th Dec. There we came to know about the Chingu Scheme from the Shopkeepers.
The Chingu is a name of Blanket which wasn’t for sale. It was for lease. The cost was Rs.6600/-; According to the Scheme, after a period of 21 months, a person from their side will come and collect the chingu from you and will pay you 75% back i.e. Rs.4950/- ...! And why so? Because Meneka Gandhi has banned the furnaces that were earlier used to heat the chingu stuff to make out shawls from it… 1 chingu once heated expands to make 5-6 shawls each of which sells for around 20-30K. No
Apart from this they offered 5 free Gifts in the Sceme such as :
1 Bed sheet Set with pillow covers and matching Balnket,
2 Shawl,
1 Carpet,
2 Double Bed Blanket,
1 Double Bed Blanket Set with Pillow Cover etc.
According to the Scheme After 21 months there person will come to your home and will only take back the Chingu and not the remaining 5 gifts. And at the same time after taking back the Chingu He will Pay back the 75% Rs. 4950/- amount.
We choosed the Scheme and paid them Rs.800/- (500/- as advance 300/-for agreement). They told that the products with 5 Gifts will come to us at our home by VPP (VPP Charges Free).
After returning to Nagpur we've searched about the authenticity of this entire Scheme on the internet mainly on this site. But We didn't found any positive feedback or comments from the previuos Customers.
Now Except for the present contact no. of the dealer of PatniTop (J & K) on the receipt provided by him, we dont have any other document of authenticity.
We would like you to help us by sharing with us any information that you have on this matter. The VPP will come before 10th January and on receiving it we are expected to pay another Rs.6100/-.
Incase according to you we have made foolishness in buying this product we would atleast console ourselves with the fact that we've lost Rs.800/- but are saved from paying the remaining Rs. 6100/-. Also we would be able to save other ignorant tourists from making such a costly mistake.
