Why ID proof is required while closing Post paid airtel connection

Hi,

I want to close my Airtel post paid SIM but when I visit to nearest Airtel office they ask me to submit ID proof. But When I talked to customer care they told me that ID proof isn’t required to close the SIM. Only I need to pay outstanding amount. My Airtel mobile no. is 9630082823.

My question is to you to tell me how can I close the SIM without giving ID proof.
