Dear Sir/Madam,
I had purchased a product from India Today Book Club in 2009 (Invoice no. ORA090071052; Order no. OGA090071862), this was a Britannica CD and a Holiday Voucher worth Rs 5, 000/-. Holiday package was supposed to be provided by their partner Big City Promotions (Premier Sales Promotion Pvt. Ltd.) after payment of Rs 899/-.
Big City Promotions allotted me Holiday Voucher number ITBC5410, which I submitted to them on 26/08/10 along with the Demand Draft of Rs 899/-. As per the terms I opted for 3 different dates with different locations between 16/10/10 to 22/10/10. During Oct’10, I called ‘Big City Promotions’ almost every day and they didn’t had any clue of the allotment. Subsequent to that also I have called Big City Promotions multiple times but their phone (080 4055 4800) is always on IVR, I have stayed on the IVR for nearly 10 mins also but with no response.
I have written many times to ‘India Today Book Club’ - The India Today Group. I have been writing mails since Oct’10 at '[email protected]', '[email protected]', '[email protected]' and have not received any response other than the auto reply messages. I have called their helpline number (011-40502424) but they don’t resolve the issue and insist on sending mail to '[email protected]'.
After I reported the issue on ‘http://www.pgportal.gov.in’ portal, I had call during Feb beginning from Piush Hirawat of ‘Big City Promotions’ and he requested me to again provide dates for blocking the holiday package. He confirmed me over phone as well emailed the confirmation on 12th Feb that the Holiday has been booked with ‘Hotel Siddharta’ at Mysore from 12th March to 14th March. Twice I also received calls from ‘India Today Book Club’ confirming the booking with ‘Hotel Siddhata’ at Mysore for the above stated dates.
Based upon these confirmations, I planned my vacation to Mysore for the stated period. I reached Mysore on 12th March morning and moved to ‘Hotel Siddharta’ for check in. I was astonished to find that there was no such booking made by ‘Big City Promotions’.
I have not received the product as committed by ‘India Today Book Club’ and during this period I paid Rs 899/- to ‘Big City Promotions’ (associated partner of India Today Book club) as per agreement for the Holiday package. After repeated attempts also these business houses have been fooling around, which seems to be their main business practice.
Please refer to any online complaint sites and you will find thousands of complain against these companies. Few to list; http://inconsumercomplaints.com http://www.consumercourtforum.in As a consumer we call and write to these companies but they never respond. We pay to these companies but never receive the products/services committed by them.
These 2 business houses have been cheating Indians at large and making mockery of Indian laws. Basically they don’t have any business ethics and are successfully running their business as there is no recourse to curb their activities.
I have already incurred loss during the last 2 bookings with ‘Big City Promotions’ and am not interested in any more deals with them or ‘India Today Book Club’. I would request you to take this forward and ensure that these fraud business operators are prosecuted.
Attached is the mail confirmation which I had received from Piush Hirawat at ‘Big City Promotions’, he can be reached at direct line 80-40554848. Other contact information are stated for your ready reference.
