Target
Equality

Holy cow! I am new to the retail side of employment, and now i have a new approach on industrial/factory jobs.

The Target store that I applied for was a rush and convenience job, I needed a job that was going to be close by. Since having no transportation of my own would make working elsewhere in the field I'm more suited for, I figured Target would b a great company to sit and grow with.

Now that I am employed with Target. The flavor of distaste fills my mouth. I don't want to use the race card but if it smells like crap it probably is. There are 3 white employees on our night shift 7 black and 14-18 Mexican. My complaint isn't so much the color part as most these employees are either family or friend. We have one older lady that has 3 sons on the same shift, 1 of those sons is dating a gal from our soft line dept. Then the gal from soft line dept has 1 or 2 of her cousins working the same shift. And finally on this part one of the black guys knows our supervisor (somehow on a personnel level, being having 1 another's phone numbers) in turn got his nephew a position that i had been offered to work. But was (supple) denied that position, cause she gave it to her friends nephew. On top of that one of the normal floor team guys got his friend a position. I'm wondering if my store i work at is the only place that has that kinda drama in the retail sector.

It drives me nuts that no matter how much initiative i put out its not seen, or the wrong person gets the credit. If when I set to do a task and I do it in a faster tI'me then expected I end up settin the bar higher for next tI'me and if i go slower i get penalized for it by not doing that job again. To me it really feels that Target will only let certain employees grow to be better employees. 8 months ago i was having a supervisor asking me if I'd b interested in a team leader position. Then 3 months after saying yes and being interested they sent hI'm to a different store. Seems very suspicious in my opinion.

I don't know,

Will N
